Madrija will take part in this event next August through a dedicated working group. The Congress will bring together the leading providers
of systems that have developed platforms enabling the wireless transmission of device and arrhythmia data to alert healthcare professionals (HCPs) and allow them to review the data online.
Healthcare professionals working in this field acknowledge that significant challenges still remain for the efficient
flow of information from the device to the hospital, and from the provider’s platform to the electronic health record.
This hampers an efficient workflow, but it also jeopardizes effective medical decision-making, making patient care more difficult
and carrying significant medico-legal implications.

Among other topics, this event will address:

• There is no easy, streamlined, and unified way to import discrete measured data from CIEDs (cardiac implantable electronic devices) into
  an EHR. In most cases, hospitals rely on PDFs, if any information is retrieved at all.
• Hospitals can use middleware software, but even for these intermediary companies it
  is difficult to consistently aggregate data coming from different providers and devices.
• There is no proactive collaboration between providers, or between providers and middleware companies,
  when device or provider platforms change, which causes interruptions in the data flow.
• There is no integration between in-office and remote follow-up information. In addition, middleware companies
  struggle to integrate this remote monitoring data.
• Alert priority settings are inconsistent, and this priority is not always transmitted along with the data itself.
  This makes efficient workflow management in hospitals very difficult.

  The Forum’s goal is to clearly express the HCP community’s strong commitment to managing remote
  data flow (from true remote-monitored CIEDs as well as in-office and in-hospital interrogations) in a much more systematic way.
