SIMRE is a new, freely accessible information system that graphically and analytically displays building data for the 929 municipalities of Castilla-La Mancha. Its main goal is to be a useful tool for a first assessment of a building’s energy retrofitting potential.
Ismael Moreno, CEO of Madrija, emphasizes that “this tool is a great help for both professionals and citizens in understanding the capacity, possibilities, and energy retrofitting potential of homes and buildings in the region”.
The system compiles thematic maps and captures aspects such as year of construction, climate zone, volumetry, floor area, estimated energy rating, façade and roof surface area, and the amount of sunlight the building receives. It also allows for a preliminary analysis prior to applying for Program 3 of the retrofitting scheme, enabling agents to assess in advance whether a building has sufficient retrofitting potential to meet the requirements for the grant.
Thanks to SIMRE, Castilla-La Mancha moves closer to Spain’s 2030 target: for 30% of the building stock to meet the requirements of the energy retrofitting plan, which focuses on lighting, air conditioning, domestic hot water, and insulation.
