Madrija and the Castilla-La Mancha Society of Cardiology Organize the 2nd Cardiovascular Prevention and Innovation Conference

Madrija and the Castilla-La Mancha Society of Cardiology are holding the second edition of the Cardiovascular Prevention and Innovation Conference, an event that brought together around 60 Cardiology specialists from across Spain in Toledo. Dr. José Moreu, president of the Society, and Iñigo Cortázar, general director of Human Resources at SESCAM, were in charge of the opening ceremony.

The first panel on cardiovascular prevention discussed new developments in pharmacology and was moderated by Dr. Luis Rodríguez Padial, president of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, and Dr. Pedro Rodríguez Ballesteros, head of department at Hospital Nuestra Señora del Prado. Dr. Joaquín Sánchez-Prieto presented on innovative drugs for treating dyslipidemia, followed by further developments explained by Dr. Daniel Salas, from Hospital de Ciudad Real, Dr. Miguel Ángel Carrasco, head of Endocrinology at HUT, and Dr. Paloma Moya, head of the Pharmacy Department at HUT. 

The second panel, moderated by Dr. Fernández Lozano, from Hospital Puerta de Hierro, and María Luz López-Carrasco, former General Manager at Abbott, covered technological innovations. Speakers included Alejandro Escario, technical director of Madrija, who highlighted the importance of remote patient monitoring and how it can improve care for cardiology patients through these systems without the need to visit hospitals. Dr. José María de la Torre, head of the Cardiology Department at Hospital de Valdecilla, stressed the importance of artificial intelligence, as it can open up new perspectives and enhance medical capabilities. Meanwhile, José Manuel Querol, director at VITAR, presented several projects featuring an avatar that guides patients through their journey around hospitals.

Finally, Dr. Juan Gabriel Córdoba, associate physician in the Cardiology Department at Hospital de Albacete, spoke about updates on new devices for treating structural heart disease.
