Last month saw a new edition of the #SEC2024 Congress in Bilbao, bringing together more than 4,000 medical specialists and professionals over 3 days.
It is one of the largest scientific-healthcare events held in Spain, with cardiologists, family and primary care physicians, researchers, internists, epidemiologists, medical residents, and nurses enjoying a broad program that includes 140 sessions and close to 1,000 abstracts.
This year we had a stand in the Startups area to continue showcasing and discussing the latest developments in Enigma, our solution for Cardiology services.
Dr. Luis Rodríguez Padial, president of the Spanish Society of Cardiology(SEC) and head of the Cardiology Department at the Toledo University Hospital Complex, noted at this edition that “there is a lot of data within medical records that is rarely put to use. Data analysis will make it possible to identify higher-risk patients in order to focus cardiovascular prevention efforts“. In this regard, he highlighted the role artificial intelligence can play and the need to improve coordination with primary care, along with the most promising lines of research in cardiology.
This Congress addressed many clinical topics, such as discussion of the European Society of Cardiology’s clinical practice guidelines and strategies to combat cardiovascular disease. Research conducted in Spain was also discussed, including the high percentage of cardiovascular patients who stop taking their medication. In addition, important developments were presented, such as new weight-loss drugs, as well as updated strategies for treating heart failure.
