The Institute for the Development and Integration of Healthcare (IDIS Foundation) has presented “The Pulse of Healthcare. Perception Survey,” an accurate snapshot of the state of private healthcare in Spain.
95.5% of the total population considers it “necessary” to “very necessary” to have interoperable systems that allow for communication and data exchange between healthcare professionals at hospitals and health centers.
The main conclusion drawn from this perception survey is clear: 83% of private healthcare users are “satisfied” to “very satisfied” with the services provided, appointment scheduling (79%), access to diagnostic tests (81%), outpatient or specialist center care (80%), and emergency care (63%).
Finally, the survey reveals that 84% of the population now believes that health data belongs to the patient and, therefore, demands a transparent system. “Patients often have such difficulty accessing their data that they feel their medical record isn’t even their own. It’s very difficult to go from one place to another and start the process over every time we change doctors,” concluded Villanueva, stressing that “we want excellent public healthcare that is aware that private healthcare will be there to meet any patient needs it cannot reach.”
