The Official College of Computer Engineering of Castilla-La Mancha presented its awards yesterday in Albacete, recognizing talent in the sector across the region, with nine entities and individuals honored in this edition.
At the ceremony, held at the Hotel Palacio, the dean of the College, Ambrosio Rodríguez, noted that “Artificial Intelligence is here to stay, and societies that know how to leverage these digital advances will be able to move forward and join this new 4.0 world, improving their service and care for citizens”.
The director of the Castilla-La Mancha Digital Transformation Agency highlighted the region’s progress in this area and emphasized the role of technology as “the greatest equalizer in the provision of public services and the creation of wealth and talent”.
Part of the Madrija team traveled to Albacete to congratulate the winners. One of them was Francisco José Quiles, a professor at UCLM, who noted that computer engineering is one of the most competitive degree programs. In the R&D&I innovation category, the award went to the PlatGDIA project, and in computer science training and outreach, the Municipal Institute for Economic Promotion, Training and Employment of Ciudad Real (Impefe) was recognized. In the entrepreneurial private initiative category, the award went to Ianos, an artificial-intelligence-powered assistant designed to accompany and guide visitors during the 2024 Fair. In computer science outreach, the award went to Tomás Segura Martín, head of the Neurology Department at the Albacete University Hospital Complex.
Congratulations to everyone, and see you next year.
