Madrija Attends the 2022 Spanish Society of Cardiology Congress in Mallorca

Oct 25, 2022

The Palma Congress Palace hosted the SEC22 Cardiovascular Health Congress, a scientific event organized by the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC) that brought together nearly 4,000 professionals in Palma over three days — an all-time high across the 43 editions of this congress.

The event was held in hybrid format (in-person and online), offering an extensive scientific program with various symposia, workshops, close to 200 educational sessions, and nearly a thousand presentations, which served to share knowledge and the latest advances in the treatment of heart disease, such as the new Spanish polypill, a drug that combines three medications and reduces cardiovascular mortality from repeat heart attacks by 33%.

Cross-cutting innovation in healthcare and the role of citizens’ digital health records were also among the topics of interest at the SEC22 Congress. As Dr. Gómez Doblas noted, “being able to integrate into a patient’s medical record all the information and activity markers now recorded by our own mobile devices could be key to improving population health monitoring and encouraging citizens to take greater responsibility for their own health”.

During the congress, various measures under the SEC-FEC Verde (“Green”) project were also launched, developed by the Spanish Society of Cardiology and the Spanish Heart Foundation, with the overall goal of reducing morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease linked to pollution.
